Back Pain and Posture
Back pain is the most common workplace injury. More people are coming in with back pain due to incorrect posture due to the work that they do which involves either sitting for prolonged periods of time or by heavy lifting and the way in which the lifting is done.There are 2 types of situations that can occur typically which contribute to people having back pain and incorrect posture.
1. The tasks that they perform on a daily basis can create poor body mechanics, prolonged activity, repetitive movements and fatigue are also major contributors to the back pain.
2. Accidents are the unexpected events such as lifting a load and it becomes unbalanced causing it to slip. These kinds of injuries can jerk the neck, back and other parts of the body that can create the body to be out of balance, which can impact on the muscles and other soft tissues of the body.

Carpal tunnel is becoming very common as it is a repetitive strain. It is a compression of the median nerve at the wrist. Due to repetitive actions and comes on gradually. Things like excessive wrist extension, flexion, numbness, tingling on the radial side of the hand from the ring finger, pain or waking at night, clumsiness or weakness in hand all can affect carpal tunnel. if you have carpal tunnel you can continue activities, but may have to alter slightly so that you don't increase the pain. It's important to avoid heavy manual work for about 2 months.
